PASAJ withdrew from the curatorship of the Istanbul Child and Youth Biennial.

The Istanbul Children and Youth Art Biennial, which is being held for the fourth time this year, came to the fore with its censored works. curated and applied by the visual arts department inconvenienced, announcement of the press policy of the artist who left cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_just after the opening.

The 4th Child and Youth Art Biennial, which we curated as PASAJ Artist Initiative, was censored by Beyoğlu Municipality shortly before its opening. The Biennial Committee, on the other hand, preferred to remain silent against censorship. As the PASAJ artist initiative, we tried to make our voices heard by withdrawing from the Biennial. However, we found it appropriate to do this with a sense of duty. Therefore, we fulfilled our responsibility to the biennial participants, completed the opening preparations and left the post on April 20. 

In its press release after all these, the Biennial Committee claimed that the works were removed because no selection was made in accordance with the expectations and criteria of the Committee, and PASAJ placed the responsibility on the artist initiative._cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf back bidenal_Sansure " We are disturbed that the stance we have taken has been taken to other channels. In response to all this with the approval of the artists we invited, 4._cc781905-5cde-136bad5cf58dIstanbul and We are announcing that we took it on May 3 from the Youth Sanat Biennale.

The fourth edition of Istanbul Youth and Children art biennial has been disrupted by the censorship of art works. Here is the declaration of PASAJ Artist Initiative who did the curatorial work of the visual arts part of the biennale and left their job shortly after the opening of the biennial in protest against censorship:

The fourth Istanbul Youth and Children art biennial that we have curated has been censored by Beyoğlu Municipality shortly before the opening. The Biennial Committee has chosen not to respond to this censorship. We at PASAJ Artist Initiative have decided to make our voice heard by withdrawing from the biennial. Considering our responsibility towards the participants, we fulfilled our commitment to prepare the work for the biennale opening on the 20th April, before terminating our involvement.

In their press release, the Biennial Committee have declared PASAJ artist Initiative to be responsible for the removal of art works and that PASAJ have failed to make a selection according to the Biennial Committee's expected criteria. We at PASAJ are concerned that our withdrawal has been publicized and considered in this way. We, together with the invited artists, withdraw our work as of the 3rd of May from the fourth Istanbul Children and Youth Art Biennial.

The artists who are withdrawing their works are the following: Anna Borghi, Ekmel Ertan & Seçil Yaylalı, Esin Turan, Geocyclab, Grete Aagrad & Lars Henningsen, Local A.(Felice Hapetzeder& Jenny Bertnsson), Stefan Endewart & Julia Brunner.
