Elizabeth Aro’s work interweaves the emotion of the materials used, such as velvet, brocade, photography, drawings with the dryness of the sensory impact of the approach. The dichotomy that is generated by feelings, emotions, and ideas of the individual and the stage of impulses, stress, and feelings by means of which the individual moves is the main point which she likes to work on, trying to evoke the hidden energy in the material and letting it play with the human being’s depth. Having engaged elements as diverse as water and fire, her work reproduces familiar visual signs, arranging them into new conceptually layered pieces. In her first PASAJist solo show, these themes are combined by installations that feature the idea the artist has of them juxtaposed with photography and drawings.
