As PASAJ, we are very happy and excited to host 13 Metrekare Art Collective.
The artists’ work aims to touch the close memory of Barın Han from a distance, and to analyze the lived experiences of the place, interacting with it.
The sounds that once rose from Emin Barın's atelier are carried from Mardin to Barın Han with the sound of a reed making calligraphy, while the space left by the missing marleys on the floor is filled in 3D with letters from the Arabic rik'a alphabet cut from copper.
The sentence dictated in rik'a alphabet by Hacı Sirac, a calligraphy master living in Mardin, is embodied in the space produced by removing the copper plate, which is frequently used in the region, while the pieces flow into the gaps on the floor and fill them.
This exhibition is presented by the members of 13 Metrekare Art Collective, Canan Budak, Zeynep Ataş, Adnan Toparlı and Büşra Akgeyik
